Alice
Springs, Australia: Alice Springs Shops Nationally for Bulk Solar
Deals
Bulk
rooftop solar packages are being sought from across Australia
by Alice Solar City, to cater for more than 400 Alice Springs
residents who have expressed interest in installing a rooftop
solar system.
Alice
Solar City reached its target and available funding for installing
300 solar systems in October, after a successful 100 Days of Solar
campaign. In addition to these households, more than 400 other
residents have expressed interest in installing the technology.
“We
are getting calls daily with people asking advice on good deals
for installing a solar power system, so we just knew we had to
facilitate a solution to meet the voracious demand”, says Alice
Solar City General Manager Brian Elmer. “A Request for Proposals
has been sent to the wider photovoltaic solar industry and we
expect it will generate a lot of interest.”
“We
are looking for high quality and value for money packages so we
can provide independent advice to households, who will then make
their own choice about who they purchase a system from.”
A
bulk purchase system should help ensure householders secure a
more competitive price than if they purchased a one off system
independently.
Brian
Elmer added, “Alice Solar City will not provide funding for the
solar systems, but householders may be able to access funding
from the Solar Credits scheme and/or apply for a zero interest
loan through the Australian Government’s Green Loans program.”
“
Submissions
for the Request for Proposals are due by 8 January 2010. Alice
Springs expects to be able to announce the packages available
by February.
