Berlin,
Germany: Parties Reach Agreement in Principle on New EEG Tariffs
The
German government coalition between CDU/CSU (Christian Democratic
Union / Christian Social Union) and SPD (Social Democratic Party)
reached agreement in principle on the new funding terms for photovoltaics
in the context of an amendment to the Renewable Energy Act (EEG).
The
new terms are expected to become effective on January 1, 2009.
The
agreement between the coalition partners could still be subject
to changes and therefore is not final. The Bundestag (Lower House
of the German Parliament) is scheduled to address the amendment
on Friday next week.
The
coalition is proposing reduced feed-in tariffs for solar PV on
buildings in 2009 by 8%, in 2010 by 8%, and in 2011 by 9%. The
tariffs for ground mounted systems would be decreased by 10% in
2009 and by 10% in 2010.
The
bonus for PV systems on or at facades of €0.05/kWh is expected
to be abolished.
The
current EEG envisaged an annual reduction of the feed-in tariffs
for roof-top installations by 5% and of ground mounted systems
by 6.5%.
