Blaubeuren,
Germany: Centrosolar to Construct Portuguese Cell Plant
The
recently formed joint-venture between QIMONDA and the CENTROSOLAR
Group is planning to construct a production facility for Itarion
Solar Lda for silicon-based solar cells at Vila do Conde in Portugal.
In
doing so, Itarion is relying on expertise from Blaubeuren based
CENTROSOLAR. The master agreement with centrotherm photovoltaics
AG, as a leading supplier of technology and services for the manufacturing
of solar cells and solar silicon, envisages the delivery of turnkey
production lines.
This
major order includes several lines with a project planning period
of two years and guaranteed levels of cell efficiency and production
capacity. Delivery of the first line will prospectively be in
early 2009.
"We
are pleased to accompany QIMONDA and the CENTROSOLAR Group in
their entry into solar cell production, and to provide a basis
for cost-efficient production of solar cells with our technology
and know-how," commented Hans Autenrieth, Management Board member
of centrotherm photovoltaics AG. "The order in Portugal confirms
our growth strategy. Together with the other orders we have won
over recent months, it proves that we have positioned ourselves
successfully in the South European growth market."
