Correggio,
Italy: Kerself Inaugurates 9 MW of Photovoltaic Projects in San
Severo
KERSelf
S.p.A., a company listed on the Italian Stock Exchange’s STAR
segment and a leading player in Italy’s photovoltaic industry,
has opened three 3 MWp photovoltaic solar fields in San Severo
(in the Italian region of Puglia) installed by Ecoware S.p.A.,
the Group company specialized in large-scale photovoltaic systems.
The fields, connected to the mains grid last December, were commissioned
by Voigt & Coll., a German financial company active in photovoltaic
investments in Europe. Photovoltaic field projects have been set
up in Puglia for a total of 19 MWp, worth 85 million euro.
The
important contract was secured in collaboration with DynaFinance
Consulting, which develops and manages projects for financial
investors wanting to operate in Italy (like Voigt & Coll.) and
has reached agreements with Ecoware for other plants to be constructed
in Puglia. Specifically, a primary cabin will be installed north
of San Severo, to connect 60 MWp of solar fields by the end of
the second half of 2010 or early 2011, for an additional amount
of 200 million euro. DynaFinance will guarantee financial coverage
for the entire project by setting up a photovoltaic property fund
for more than 200 million euro, in partnership with CBA Studio
Legale e Tributario. The new orders relate to the 2010 budget
programs announced in a press release issued on 30 September 2009,
which envisage plant construction work for a total of approximately
170 MWp in 2010.
Voigt
&Coll. is also one of the purchasers of the new plants, having
already underwritten 20 MWP of the total 60 MWp that will be available.
Markus Voigt, Voigt & Coll. chief executive officer, said: “Italy
offers the most interesting opportunities for photovoltaic investment
in Europe today. We are ready to invest an additional 250 million
euro in capacity photovoltaic plants in Italy in 2010 and Ecoware
is our partner of choice.”
Among
those attending the opening ceremony were Wolfgang Palz, President
of the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE), Onofrio Introna,
Puglia’s Regional Councillor for the Environment & Energy, and
institutional representatives of the Puglia Regional Authority,
ENEA (Italy’s national agency for new technologies, energy and
sustainable economic development), local authorities and international
banks.
Ecoware
chief executive officer Leopoldo Franceschini said: “The important
investment by our German partners is further evidence of their
confidence in Italy’s photovoltaic capabilities and technology.
This is one of the largest projects in the photovoltaic sector
in Italy and confirms the leadership of the Kerself group in a
sector of strategic importance for the national economy.”
