Bonn, Germany: SolarWorld to Market Complete Residential PV Systems

In 2007, SolarWorld AG is to market complete solar systems of the leading manufacturer of high quality solar power technology will be offered at a price that the company says will further improve the competitiveness of photovoltaics versus conventional power.

"In 2007 we will offer our customers in the wholesale and retail trade complete systems at terms and conditions that will enable them to sell to final customers at a price that is well below the prices currently seen in the market," explains Dipl.-Wirtschaftsingenieur Frank Henn, CSO of SolarWorld AG.

The recommended retail price for a medium-size standard system with a power output of 4 kW net will be 4,600 EUR per Kilowatt (kW) top performance plus assembly. Prices currently seen in the market are substantially higher.

In the last few years electricity prices in Germany have shown double digit growth rates. With energy sources like coal, oil and gas continuing to become more expensive this trend will persist in the future," says Dipl.-Ing. Frank H. Asbeck, Chairman and CEO of SolarWorld AG.

He added, "Year after year we are getting closer to the business competitiveness of solar power versus the retail grid-price in particular from coal generated and nuclear power. Ecologically speaking the clean solar power is already superior anyway. With our drive towards price transparency next year we will explicitly help to make solar power more favourably priced. Our objective is to reach the full competitiveness of solar power in the foreseeable future."

Under the motto "Willkommen in der Schwieriglosigkeit" (The incredible lightness of Sunkits) SolarWorld AG will also be introducing its new individually customizable solar kits (Sun kits) at Intersolar this week.

The company asserts that its new mono-crystalline solar modules presented at the world's largest solar technology exhibition boast a degree of efficiency of 14.2% which is a power output well above what the company says is the average market efficiency.
