CA, USA: PowerLight Corporation Appoints Howard Wenger Executive
Vice President
PowerLight
Corporation, a manufacturer and installer of large-scale solar
electric systems, today announced that it has appointed Howard
Wenger as Executive Vice President to help drive corporate development
and strategic initiatives. Mr. Wenger had most recently served
as Vice President, North American Business, for AstroPower, Inc.

tremendous expertise in developing business strategies and government
policies that are transforming solar power into a mainstream source
of energy,” said PowerLight CEO Tom Dinwoodie.

playing such a dynamic role in the solar industry,” said Mr. Wenger.

the world’s energy portfolio,” noted PowerLight president Dan
Shugar. “He has been working in the renewable power and energy
efficiency fields for almost 20 years, during which time he helped
secure a number of national and statewide policies and legislation
designed to speed the ommercialization of solar power.”
During
his time at AstroPower Inc., Mr. Wenger was responsible for developing
market and product strategies, forming key channel alliances,
securing R&D funding, and managing the company’s commercial activities
in North America.
Prior
to joining AstroPower, Mr. Wenger co-founded Pacific Energy Group,
a renewable energy consulting firm that developed a new framework
and software tools for analyzing the customer-value of solar power
generation. Mr. Wenger also worked for Pacific Gas & Electric
Company, where he focused on the technical and economic valuation
of renewable and distributed energy resources within electric
utility grids. Mr. Wenger received a Bachelors degree in Environmental
Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a
Masters of Science in Engineering from the University of Colorado,
Boulder. He has authored more than 60 technical papers and reports
concerning various aspects of the energy business.
