Elizabeth,
NJ, USA: Atlantic Central Logistics Goes Solar
Atlantic
Central Logistics, (ACL) a leading asset-based logistics company,
today announced that a 700-kilowatt DC solar photovoltaic system
will be installed by North Chelmsford, Massachusetts-based American
Capital Energy on the roof of ACL's Elizabeth, New Jersey headquarters.
Established
in 1980, Atlantic Central Logistics has become a leading provider
of supply chain management, distribution, warehousing, driver
leasing, and local cartage to the freight forwarder within the
transportation industry. Atlantic Central operates in nine cities
throughout the US.
"As
owners of four facilities in the New York metro region, we have
been seriously evaluating solar for the past two years as a way
to minimize our financial exposure to energy price fluctuations,"
said Robert Humes, Partner, Atlantic Central Logistics. "The time
is right to leverage the solar value of our roof space so that
we can not only mitigate the energy cost variable, but also enhance
the value of our owner-operated facilities. We chose American
Capital Energy as our partner because of their extensive experience
in successful flat roof warehouse solar installations, flexibility
in financing the project, and their ability to get it done in
our timeframe."
"It
is natural that as a leader in supply chain management, Atlantic
Central Logistics should take an active leadership position in
reducing and stabilizing their energy cost. Furthermore, by using
the power purchase agreement (PPA) model to go solar they will
benefit in two ways -- controlled energy cost for the long term
and minimal capital investment," stated Tom Hunton, President
of American Capital Energy, the company designing and installing
the ACL system.
The
ACL solar PV system will consist of over 4,000 SunTech 160/170
Solar Panel Modules, SatCon inverters and the SunLink Flat Roof
Mounting system. ACL will be hosting the system under a power
purchase agreement (PPA), where ACL will purchase energy produced
at a fixed price below current utility rates.
