Erfurt,
Germany: ersol Starts Marketing Thin Film Modules
ersol Thin Film GmbH has signed a contract with K+C Schmidt GbR
for the supply of about 500 kWp modules, thus inaugurating sales
of its silicon thin-film panels.
In
January and February 2008 type Nova®-T modules are to be delivered
to the Grevenbroich-based investor near Düsseldorf. K+C Schmidt
will thus be using the first thin-film modules to be manufactured
by ersol Thin Film GmbH in series production.
The
contracting partner intends to fit an innovative photovoltaic
system with the Nova®-T modules. This represents a decisive step
for ersol Thin Film in launching this module type on the market
by way of a first major project in Germany.
Karl-Heinz
Schmidt, Managing Partner of K+C Schmidt GbR, is looking forward
to receiving ersol’s thin-film modules: “Nova®-T convinced us
with its interesting product characteristics, excellent temperature
coefficients and good performance in low light conditions. We
will be installing these environmentally friendly, siliconbased
modules in an open space system in Grevenbroich, Germany’s ‘energy
capital’. It will be a further solar counterpart to the existing
brown coal power stations.”
The
500 kW plant equipped with ersol thin-film modules – to be operated
by K+C Schmidt itself – is due to go on stream shortly and will
contribute to power generation from regenerative energy. “This
supply contract marks the beginning of our marketing activities.
We are currently negotiating with several potential customers.
So I am delighted to say that we are on the verge of signing further
contracts,” says Peter Schneidewind, Managing Director of ersol
Thin Film GmbH.
As
of 31 December 2007 ersol Thin Film GmbH employed a workforce
of 126. To date, ersol has invested over € 80 million in the production
of thin-film modules.
